My first real job was pasting up the Salvation Army's weekly magazine, "The War Cry".



While waiting for the Major's editorial changes, I drew this set of cards to promote my illustration work.



They are, in many ways, derivative of the European cartoonists I so admired.



At the time I was living in a bayside suburb of Art Deco buildings and palm trees.



Where crumbling nightclubs and rock'n'roll venues faced the beach.



And the Swan Beer blimps purred constantly overhead.



It's taken a while but I've finally given away the last set.
